Helper Insurance in Singapore

Employers of Migrate Domestic Workers in Singapore are required by MOM to purchase medical and personal accident insurance as part of the employment requirement. Policies are issued in durations of 14 / 26 months, this duration will coincide with the duration of the work permit. The extra 2 months is for the possible extension of the work permit and stay of your helper after the expiry of the work permit.

Coverage of a minimum of 15,000 SGD per annual for medical insurance covering inpatient, day surgery.

For personal accidents, the required amount will be 60,000 SGD

Since employers of Migrate Domestic Workers in Singapore are fully responsible for the welfare and well-being of their helpers, it might be prudent to consider a higher coverage to protect employers from any expected financial expenses if the helper requires a higher amount than the insurance policy covers.

A Security Bond to MOM is usually issued together with any helper insurance purchase.

From 1 July 2023, applications and renewal of work permits will be under the new enhanced insurance coverage

  • 25% employer co-payment of amounts from 15,000 SGD to 60,000SGD
  • Standardised of allowable exclusion
  • Age Differentiated premiums
  • Insurers are to be required to reimburse directly to hospitals.
