Migrate Domestic Worker Levy – How much?

The Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) Levy in Singapore is a monthly fee that employers of foreign domestic workers are required to pay to the government. The levy is meant to regulate the number of foreign domestic workers in Singapore. The levy is paid monthly and automatically deducted from your bank account on the 17th of each month. Payment of levy is only through GIRO, this is the link to apply for a GIRO account.

The FDW Levy rate depends on the nationality of the foreign domestic worker and the employer’s residency status. As of April 2023, the levy rates are as follows:

1st domestic helper300.00 SGD
2nd domestic helper 450.00 SGD
Concessionary rate60.00 SGD
MDW levy as of 1 Apr 2023

Only Singaporean citizens are eligible for the concessionary rates with at least 1 of the following conditions:

  • Singaporean child under the age of 16.
  • Singaporean Elderly who is 67 or older.
  • Singaporean Persons with Disabilities – certification is required.

Payment and Compliance

Employers are responsible for the timely payment of the Helper Levy. The levy is typically paid via GIRO (General Interbank Recurring Order), an automatic monthly deduction from the employer’s bank account. Failure to comply with the levy payment can result in penalties and may affect the employer’s ability to hire FDWs in the future.
