What is OWWA?

OWWA stands for Overseas Workers Welfare Administration. It is a Philippine government agency with its main goal of protecting and promoting the welfare and interests of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families.

OWWA provides a range of services to OFWs, including pre-departure orientation seminars, training and education programs, welfare assistance, and insurance coverage. It also offers repatriation and reintegration services to OFWs who have returned to the Philippines, as well as financial assistance for their livelihood projects.

One of the primary functions of OWWA is to collect and manage the OWWA Membership Fund, which is funded by contributions from OFWs. The fund is used to provide welfare services and benefits to OFWs and their families, as well as to finance the operations of OWWA.

OWWA is an important agency for the Philippine government, as OFWs are a significant contributor to the country’s economy. It plays a crucial role in ensuring that the rights and welfare of OFWs are protected and that they are able to work and live abroad with dignity and respect.
